The seventh annual Summit for Kids returns Saturday to the John S. Knight Center in downtown Akron.
The government-organized family expo features free medical care, school supplies and entertainment for area children. The free event attracts 15,000 to 18,000 people each year.
It runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the convention center, 77 E. Mill St.
The entertainment this year includes the Blooming Flowers Dance Troupe, Elec Simon and Friends, Weathervane Chanticleers, a fashion show, Eternity Irish Dance Troupe and the Coventry High School band.
There also will be appearances by Spider-Man and Black Widow.
The event will be preceded by the Summit for Kids Breakfast, which takes place at 7:30 a.m. Friday at the convention center.
Organizers will hand out the 2016 Summit for Kids Youth Award, which is given to a youth who has participated in an outstanding collaborative project, event or activity that helped to improve the lives of children and families and the betterment of the community.
