Your car can stay out of the snow, ice and rain in a new covered short-term parking lot right next to the Akron-Canton Airport terminal.
The new lot, which opened this week, is part of the airport’s CAK 2018 ten-year capital improvement plan.
“An exceptional customer experience is our top priority here at CAK, so when we saw the demand for covered parking, we knew this project needed to come to fruition,” Rick McQueen, president and CEO of Akron-Canton Airport said in a news release. “We’re excited to offer covered parking among our many convenient, on-site parking options. We believe it’s going to be a great success, especially with the unpredictable Ohio weather.”
Designed by Hammontree & Associates, of North Canton, the $2 million new covered parking area features 250 short-term parking spaces, LED lighting and a covered walkway to the main airport entrance.
The hourly rates for the covered lot and the nearby approximately 400 uncovered short-term spots are the same: $2 per hour. The daily rate for the uncovered lot is $15 and $18 for the covered lot.
The airport also has long-term and economy lots.
The project was funded by airport operating reserves.
