As the world heads into another year of record heat, the Akron-Canton area will test a daily record Friday.

Enjoy it, because winter sets in about 36 hours later.

The high forecast for Friday is 71, according to the National Weather Service. The record for Nov. 18 is 70, set just a year earlier.

Warmer-than-usual November weather in Northeast Ohio is becoming the norm. Three times in the last 10 years, Akron-Canton Airport has recorded a November monthly average in the Top 10 list, and four times in that period, we’ve recorded the least snowfall.

The weather service has records for Akron-Canton dating to the 1880s.

At the halfway point, November 2016 is in competition for warmest November on record, but the last half promises to change that.

A cold front will move through Northeast Ohio, bringing rain on Saturday morning and changing to snow at night as the temperature drops to 29 degrees, according to the weather service.

The forecast for Thanksgiving week is for more seasonal temperatures of highs in the 40s and lows in the 30s.
