Community members may pay respects on Monday to a Canton woman who died when struck by a vehicle on state Route 8 earlier this week.

Calling hours for Tonya Johnson, a 43-year-old firefighter and paramedic, will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at First Christian Church, 6900 Market Ave. N, Canton. Funeral services will follow calling hours.

Johnson died at about 4 p.m. Feb. 22 while attempting to cross Route 8 during rush hour. She had been arguing with her husband of nine days, police said, when she left the vehicle and crossed the road. She climbed over the concrete divider and was hit by a northbound pickup truck, according to reports.

The incident caused a 10-car chain reaction crash and backed up traffic for hours in both directions.

Johnson is survived by her husband, two sons and a daughter, as well as other extended family.
