Police are seeking information from the public about a reported abduction and attempted sexual assault Sunday morning south of the University of Akron campus.
A woman said she walking to campus between 4 and 5 a.m. when a man in his 50s or 60s pulled up on Sherman Street and offered her a ride. She agreed, but the man then attempted “unwanted contact.” She exited the vehicle near Hammel Street and flagged down a bystander, who called police.
The woman was treated for minor injuries and released.
The attacker is described as between 50 to 60 years old with freckles and teeth in poor condition. He drove a white or silver truck with a ladder rack on top. The passenger window was broken and covered with clear plastic.
