INDEPENDENCE: Kay Felder has been cleared from the NBA’s concussion protocol and Cavs coach Tyronn Lue believes “there is a great chance” Iman Shumpert could be cleared in time for Friday’s game at the Toronto Raptors.

The return of both players beefs up Lue’s options at backup point guard, which remains one of this team’s few unknowns. But Shumpert practiced with his teammates Thursday and Lue said he wasn’t sure whether or not he was ever diagnosed with a concussion.

“I just know when he guys get hit in the head, they’ve got to go through the concussion protocol,” Lue said. “And they do a good job of making sure the guys are cleared and ready to play.”

Shumpert was helped off the floor of the Cavs’ opener after he collided with the Knicks’ Kristaps Porzingis. Felder was struck in the head by teammate Chris Andersen during a practice prior to the start of the season.
