See ‘Fun Home’ in Cleveland

Fun Home, a coming-of-age musical based on a graphic novel written by Alison Bechdel when she was a student at Oberlin, continues through Oct. 22 at the Connor Palace in Cleveland’s Playhouse Square. It’s the first stop on the Tony-winning show’s national tour. Tickets are $10-$90 at www.playhousesquare.org.

Catch ‘Love Jones The Musical’

Also at Playhouse Square, Love Jones The Musical hits the State Theatre stage at 8 p.m. The show, based on the 1997 film, stars Chrisette Michelle, Musiq Soulchild, MC Lyte and Dave Hollister. Tickets are $48-$68 at www.playhousesquare.org.

Celebrate National Taco Day

There may not be a taco truck on every corner yet, but would that necessarily be a bad thing? Celebrate the ever-malleable street food on National Taco Day. Some national chains will have specials, but better yet, check out a local eatery like Nuevo in downtown Akron, Rancheros Taqueria in North Hill, or La Loma on the east side of town, which the Beacon Journal profiled last week.

Fill up on Something Russian

For more terrific ethnic food, check out the annual Something Russian Festival at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Suffield Township, which runs 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday. Chow down on pierogi, chicken Kiev, stuffed cabbage, blini, borscht, potato pancakes, grilled cevapcici and halushki. Baked goods also will be available. Proceeds benefit the church and its outreach and mission programs. St. Nicholas Orthodox Church is at 755 S. Cleveland Ave., at state Route 532 and U.S. Route 224. www.somethingrussian.com.
