Remember strolling around in just a light jacket?
Well … We are about to head back to a harsh, cold reality as winter is back, at least for the next few days.
Snow is in the forecast with anywhere from 2 to 5 inches predicted to fall by Thursday with heavier amounts in northern Summit and Medina counties and most of Portage County. The snowbelt areas of extreme Northeast Ohio could be shoveling as much as a foot of the white stuff.
And there could be another round of snow Friday afternoon as weather forecasters say a so-called Clipper System is expect to plow its way through the area.
The National Weather Service warns the greatest impact on the Akron area weather wise will be cold temperatures.
The first shot of cold will come Thursday morning when a wind chill between zero and 10 degrees below will be commonplace.
Another blast of even chillier air will arrive over the weekend and the weather service warns wind chill advisories and warnings may have to be issued.
“In the wake of the clipper [system] Friday night this cold air will drive temperatures into the teens,” the weather service predicts. “Highs on Saturday will likely be in the single digits to around 10. Saturday night looks to be the coldest with lows near or below zero common.”
The weather service says snow is in the forecast, at least off and on, through the weekend. Temperatures will be in the 20s on Wednesday before falling to the teens on Thursday.
Take heart. Temperatures are expected to rebound into the lower 30s by Monday afternoon.
