Trevor Bauer put together his best start of the 2016 season and the Indians extended their winning streak to six games with a 3-1 victory against the Seattle Mariners Monday night.
Bauer threw 7 2/3 innings, gave up one run on five hits and struck out 10. Bryan Shaw recorded one out in the eighth to get to Cody Allen in the ninth, who notched his 12th save of the season.
Bauer is now 4-2 this season with a 3.88 ERA.
The Indians took a 2-1 lead in the fourth behind a Carlos Santana single, Jose Ramirez double, Chris Iannetta error and Juan Uribe sacrifice fly. In the fifth, Rajai Davis hit his sixth home run of the season to extend their edge to 3-1 against Mariners starter James Paxton (0-2, 3.72 ERA).
The Indians also extended their lead in the American League Central to 2.5 games, as the Kansas City Royals fell to the Baltimore Orioles 4-1.
