Southern belles’ form bonds in ‘Steel Magnolias’
Cleveland Play House and Playhouse Square have joined forces on a production of Steel Magnolias, the enduring tale of the bonds among six Southern women in the 1980s. It’s a longer-than-usual run, through Aug. 21; Tuesday’s performance is at 8 p.m. but there are also matinees and earlier-evening dates to suit any schedule. Cleveland author Paula McLain had a huge bestseller with The Paris Wife, about the first wife of Ernest Hemingway and their life among the literary set in France. Her latest novel, Circling the Sun, is about aviator Beryl Markham.
