CINCINNATI: Cincinnati police say a masked bank robbery suspect was fatally shot by an off-duty police officer after leaping over a bank counter with a plastic bag over his hand, indicating he was armed with a weapon later found by police.
Police Chief Eliot Isaac said Thursday the officer working private security pulled his service weapon when 20-year-old suspect Terry Frost vaulted over the counter Wednesday afternoon. Isaac says Frost pointed his bag-covered hand at uniformed officer Kevin Hankerson, who pushed a teller out of the way and fired two shots at Frost.
Isaac says Frost fled to a nearby wooded area where police found him dead, apparently from one of the shots fired by Hankerson. The chief says police recovered a .38-caliber pistol from the bag Frost dropped while fleeing.
