A lost dog has been reunited with its out-of-town owner after a three-city search and some help from the Akron Police Department.
A woman visiting friends in Kenmore had her dog, Emma, get loose and go missing on May 6. They scoured the neighborhood but could not find the dog.
A notice later appeared on Facebook, saying a dog that matched Emma’s description had been found in Barberton. A telephone number was provided. Emma’s owner tried numerous times to make contact but her calls went unanswered.
On Wednesday, the frantic owner called Akron police. Officers Andrew Bowman and Ryan McPherson were able to find the person who had posted the Facebook notice.
That led to a second person who had a friend in Kent who wanted the dog for his elderly mother. The officers made their way to Kent, where the dog was located.
Bowman and McPherson returned Emma to a tearful but grateful owner, Akron police reported.
