A 6-year-old Tallmadge boy suffered critical injuries Monday night in a car-bike crash in East Akron, authorities reported.
The boy, who was riding his bike, was transported to Akron Children’s Hospital.
The accident occurred about 7:50 p.m. at Lucy Street at Duane Avenue.
The boy was traveling north on Lucy Street when he went through a stop sign at Duane Avenue, police said.
He was struck by an eastbound Ford Contour driven by a 24-year-old Akron woman.
The driver was not at fault and will not be cited for the crash, police said.
She was cited for driving on a suspended license. Her vehicle was towed as part of the investigation.
Because of the serious nature of the crash, the Akron Police Department Reconstruction Team is investigating the crash.
